The Second One Always Gets the Shaft

Yes yes, that’s my little sister syndrome comment. When Ty was in his babyhood I blogged every month on a checkup, I had every intention of doing the same for Nya, but that just has not happened. It’s a whole different story with two babies and now that I’m not sitting in a cube in corporate America 40 hours a week, I just don’t have time to keep up with all my blogging ambitions. In my defense I just can’t tear myself from kissing, snuggling and having fun with my little ones to actually blog about them. Until now.. so here it is, Nya’s 6th month update… and some past updates.

Nya rolled from her tummy to her back on cinquo de Mayo. She is now an expert roller from her tummy to her back one way. She is soooooo close to flipping from her back to her tummy, she just has to lift her head a little more. She gets all twisted up and wants to roll but at the last minute she just can’t quite get there regardless of the inticement of her favorite toys.

We heard Nya’s first real giggle last week. Apparently her older brother was cracking her up so much she belted out a giggle and a squeal after supper one evening. And speaking of squealing… she’s found her voice and “talks” to anything and everyone between gurgling and blowing raspberries. Her favorite sources of delight are: Trying to grab my hair when I lean over her, her brother, jolly jumper, herself in the mirror.

Drooling- I thought Ty was a bad drooler, he’s nothing compared to this little gal. We go through bibs like crazy. It used to be spit up from acid reflux. Now it’s crazy drooling from teething. She loves chewing on basically anything she can get in her mouth. I don’t see any teeth yet but I know they are working their way up through her gums. I am glad all the teething stuff I bought for Ty that he never used are now being enjoyed by Nya.

She’s now eating solids like a rockstar and has conquered her stage one veggies with some prunes(yummy) here and there.

Nya has a crazy case of separation anxiety. She does not want to be alone ever! I am hoping this phase will pass quickly.

Nya can sleep through the night… if she chooses. We are gradually trying the cry it out process. However, it’s hard at 3 a.m. when I know I can get her to sleep in 5 minutes nursing her versus her crying for 30 minutes and waking up Ty too. I also hate hearing her cry.

Little miss Nya is sitting up too on her own. This week she started doing a great job of balancing herself. Now she doesn’t want to sit back on anything. There’s far too much wiggling to do!

And here is what we love about our little baby the most. More than anything it’s her fabulous, contagious, gigantic smile that she flashes for us all the time. Next, of course, would be her leg rolls. They are just too squeezable. Happy 6 month birthday little Nya!
